Ga Ga Goo Goo, What's 2 + 2 ?

The PostGazette.com recently began sharing the top seven trends in education today. The first trend is everything is starting earlier in education.

Academic tutoring for 2 year olds, accelerated college-prep programs and computer lapware for infants. What is the cause of this rush? Parents worry that their children won't be competitive and they don't trust the schools to give adequate preparation. Students worry about the competition for college entrance and Americans worry that we're falling behind in the global marketplace.

When my oldest daughter began violin at age 2, music or swimming lessons for infants were not common, but were available. With the explosion of information and the entrance of computers into our lives in recent decades, early academic progams are now growing in popularity.

What do you think? Are we pushing our children to learn too early, or not soon enough?
